A reliable source has confirmed to Katsina Times that Kachalla Muhammadu, the bandit leader allegedly holding retired Major General Rabe Abubakar captive, stated in a voice message that the retired officer is indeed being held at their hideout.
According to the source, Kachalla Muhammadu said in the recording that General Rabe is in good health and remains in their custody.
He further claimed that his group had been receiving information about the general’s movements and the times he left his residence since he was in Kaduna.
Kachalla Muhammadu explained that their original plan was to abduct the general near the Musawa junction, where the road splits into two directions—one leading to Musawa and the other to Gidan Mutum Daya. He said they had expected General Rabe to take the route toward Gidan Mutum Daya.
However, according to him, when General Rabe reached the junction, he chose the Musawa–Matazu road instead. Kachalla claimed that he and his associates then intercepted him along that route and successfully abducted him.
This latest account attributed to Kachalla Muhammadu has fueled suspicions that a sophisticated conspiracy may have played a role in the abduction of General Rabe Abubakar, particularly in light of the claim that his movements had been monitored since Kaduna.
In a further detail obtained by Katsina Times, Kachalla Muhammadu is said to be from the Nasarawar Yamma area under Karaduwa District, located north of the Sayaya junction. The area is also known as Sabon Sara.
